Franchisees, Rob and Linley Parry are winners of the prestigious Golden Arch - McDonald’s ultimate international award. Only 34 restaurants from the 32,000 strong chain will receive this award in 2010. Rob will talk about how a part-time crew person became an owner, the training and benefits of the McDonald’s system and the relationship and support between Franchisee and Franchisor and how they were able to stand out form 7000 other McDonalds operators worldwide to win the Golden Arch award.

Prior to joining BNZ, Stephen was Executive General Manager Corporate Services and General Counsel for Downer EDI Limited, an ASX top 100 engineering services company. Previous senior roles with Downer include GM Organisation and Executive Development, GM Bitumen Supply Ltd and Executive GM Human Resources, Marketing, Legal Affairs and Procurement. Prior to Downer, his career spanned senior management consultant roles with Morgan & Banks New Zealand, and Watson Wyatt. Stephen was a co-founder and Director of The Swann Group New Zealand Ltd - a consulting firm specialising in succession transitions for SME owners.

He is a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, a Barrister and Solicitor admitted to the High Court of New Zealand and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Stephen was appointed as BNZ’s Head of Market Economics in April 2001. He now carries the title of Head of Research. His previous employment included Chief Economist Deutsche Securities, Chief Economist BT Securities, Chief Economist Doyle Paterson Brown and Chief Economist Fay Richwhite.
