35th ATRF 2012

Wednesday, 26 September 2012 to Friday, 28 September 2012

Pan Pacific Hotel, Perth, Australia

Welcome to the 2012 Australasian Transport Research Forum (ATRF) Annual Conference website.

It is my pleasure to invite you to the 35th ATRF annual conference to be hosted by the Western Australian Department of Transport at the Pan Pacific Hotel in Perth from Wednesday 26 to Friday 28 September 2012. The conference will be held in conjunction with the 25th annual ARRB Group (formerly the Australian Road Research Board) conference with a partially integrated and overlapping schedule of events.

The theme for both conferences is “Shaping the Future - linking research, policy and outcomes”. The theme encompasses a broad scope of interests and acknowledges that the transport function is integral to business and commerce, and important for social interaction and connecting communities.

Operational transport functions depend on research. Research also underpins strategic transport planning and policy development across the range of public and commercial transport systems that support our communities. Transport professionals rely on research to deliver a complex, inter-related economic and social network that connects people with goods and services through a coordinated system of roads, railways, airports, ports and waterways. Research also plays a critical role in educating and regulating to keep people safe within those networks.

Attending the ATRF conference will expose you to a broad range of transport topics and enable you to network with fellow transport professionals, including those from the ARRB Group. You will also have the opportunity to view transport infrastructure under development in and around Perth and enjoy some of the many attractions Perth has to offer.

I look forward to your participation in the 35th Annual Australian Transport Research Forum Conference.

Reece Waldock
Director General - Transport
